Yangpu Park in Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone covers 23 square kilometers and includes the Wujiaochang Area, Binjiang Development Belt, Tongji University, the Headquarter Base on Dalian Road, and New Jiangwan City in Yangpu district.
It is home to 20 sci-tech industrial parks, including seven run by national universities.
The park gives priority to modern service industries like design, finance and strategic emerging industries. It also focuses on the transformation of urban industries, commerce, tourism, culture and sports.
The Park is exploring a unique development pattern featuring scientific education. A group of famous international companies like Asia's leading design company AECOM and China Construction Design International Group, as well as some 1,200 other firms have settled in the park. With more than 50,000 employees, the park realized gross output of 30.5 billion yuan ($4.69 billion) in 2015.
To catch up with the national Internet Plus strategy, the park attracted a number of institutes and organizations including a national Internet education alliance, Shanghai’s cloud computing innovation center, demonstration bases of the Internet of Things and smart grid applications. A raft of innovation-oriented companies such as IBM, the domestic head office of Jingdong’s O2O business, Alisports.com and Hujiang.com, has settled down in the park.
There are more than 6,400 sci-tech firms, covering Internet education, cloud computing, software and electronic inform and and e-commerce. About 272 of them are national high-tech companies.
