The Hongkou Park of Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone was officially approved in 2011. The park initially comprised the Daboshu intellectual innovation and services trade circle, later expanding into three industrial clusters, 799 hectares in total.
The park now houses six science and technology incubators, including one at national level and four strategic alliances.
The park’s northern part has two hi-tech industrial clusters along Guangji Road and Handang Road. The industrial cluster along Guangji Road is home to digital media, including digital content, transmission and services platforms. The cluster on Handan Road includes the Daboshu technology center, dedicated to e-commerce, health care, education and training, and research on new materials and technologies.
In the middle of the park is energy and environmental cluster, which has over 20 organizations in the field of energy-saving and environmental protection, including Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center and World Wide Fund for Nature. Based on these organizations, the park seeks to be an important base in Shanghai’s environmental services.
The Shanghai International Shipping Service Center and the White Magnolia Plaza are key projects of the Hongkou Park’s southern part, focused on shipping finance, port services, cruise economy and crew service. Meanwhile, it strives to develop a financial service system and improve the supporting role of hi-tech services to shipping and finance.
