Tongji Auto showcases fuel cell Volare Concept sportcar
The Volare, developed by Tongji Automative Design and Research Institute, a part of Tongji University, is an electric and fuel cell roadster. The insert-shaped body can effectively reduce the air resistance in driving.
Its power system uses auxiliary power units (APU) technology and hydrogen for range extension. In addition, the Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology enables the vehicle to transmit electricity to the grid, improving the energy efficiency. With a total mileage of 200 km, the vehicle can run at a top speed of 150 km/h.
The car’s development promotes research, manufacturing and popularization of new energy vehicles, and brings huge economic and social benefits. In addition, the research faciliated exchanges and cooperation among enterprises, research institutes and governments.
The vehicle premiered at the Auto China 2013 Motor Show in Shanghai and 2013 China International Automotive Manufacturing Technology and Components Show in Beijing, where it won recognition from industrial insiders, media and visitors.
