Shanghai Simugi Technology Co Ltd
This company was established in 2001 by a subsidiary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), then was restructured in 2009 as a joint-stock company.
The Institute of Microsystems has over 20 years of experience in SOI material technology and its state-of-the-art facilities help Simgui develop customized silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers for semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. It started its first EPI wafer line in 2003, and has become the biggest EPI house on the mainland and, after 10 years of great-leap development, has a professional, highly efficient team to assist clients from China, Japan, Korea, Europe and the US.
Simgui built a new factory in North Jiading in December 2010. To date, Simgui has doubled its capacity for EPI and the SOI has reached the mass production stage. The EPI and SOI technology is developed to 8-inch, and is industrialized so Simgui can become the sole State-owned semiconductor material base in Shanghai.
Simgui and Soitec signed a strategic cooperation agreement on May 23, 2014 that encouraged Simgui's international business operations. And the two announced China's first 200-mm SOI wafers this past September, so Simgui will make a greater effort to be the only State-owned semiconductor material base in Shanghai.
