Updated:2016-04-26 (China Daily USA)

New medical technologies and products developed by companies in the Shanghai Zhangjiang National Innovative Demonstration Zone highlight the fourth China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair that opened on Thursday.

Shanghai Ankon Technologies Co Ltd presents the world's first Internet-based digestive tract examination cloud platform, the company has also created and commercialized the NaviCam capsule endoscope system, a tool for the early detection of gastric diseases.

Ankon Technologies said the uniqueness of the technology lies in the precise control of magnetic fields and photoelectronic imaging, which improve the locating function of the capsule endoscope and increase the accuracy of disease detection.

Lou Jingwei, president and CEO of Biotecan Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd, explains the company's medical big data platform at the fair.

The internet-based cloud platform hooked up to the capsule endoscope helps create a digestive system health database. It can provide services to medical institutions, doctors and patients, which will help form a digestive system health management and treatment system, according to the company.

Through the platform, the company said doctors and researchers in various regions of China can view a patient's inspection reports and provide diagnoses remotely.

At the fair, the Shanghai United Imaging Medical Science and Technology Co exhibits its new digital-optical PETCT product, which has a series of breakthroughs.

As one of the highest-level medical imaging equipment, the PET-CT is important in early screening of tumors. The new PET - CT product will provide better molecular imaging for its users, the company said.

In recent years, China has accelerated the development of the medical equipment industry and released a series of measures to promote growth.

"Over the years, the Zhangjiang demonstration zone has also released a series of incentives for medical equipment enterprises, such as preferential policies, funding and better services," said officials at the zone's management committee.

A medical big data center is being constructed in Zhangjiang by Shanghai Biotecan Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd, which will facilitate resource sharing between the top domestic hospitals and the national biomedical industry base in Zhangjiang.

Biotecan Pharmaceuticals, founded in 2008, specializes in medical data integration and analysis, drug testing and translational medical research. It has operations in the Shanghai Zhangjiang Boston Enterprise Park in Boston.

The biomedicine industry is one of the key sectors in the Zhangjiang zone. In recent years, Zhangjiang has increased efforts to support development of key enterprises, which have made breakthroughs in fields such as antibody drugs, minimally invasive surgery devices and large digital medical equipment.
