A report introducing the development of the culture and creative industry of Shanghai's Zhangjiang area in 2017 was released at a salon on Jan 18.

According to the report, Zhangjiang has formed four cultural and creative industrial clusters: digital publishing; cultural equipment; animation, games and television; and digital creative technology.

The Zhangjiang Culture and Creative Industrial Park has developed from a test field into a demonstration zone well-known in China. It was ranked first of its kind in China last year.

Zhangjiang's culture and creative industry has its own characteristics – enterprises joining forces to pursue common development and an industrial park focusing on combining culture and technology, according to Han Lu, general manager of Zhangjiang Culture and Creative Industry Holding Co.

Technologies such as internet of vehicles, virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence help promote the development of Zhangjiang's culture and creative industry.

The industry yielded fruitful results in 2017. The top events included Fu Cairui, founder, chairman and CEO of Hujiang, an internet company for language learning, being granted the 2017 Industry Leader Award by the Hurun Report, and Huahong Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp winning the gold prize at last year's China Information Technology Expo.

Yuan Tao, chairman of Zhangjiang Group, showed confidence in the industry's future development in Zhangjiang.

Yuan said that Zhangjiang's digital culture industry has taken the lead in the country over the past 25 years and produced a group of cultural enterprises such as Himalaya and Hujiang that have changed people's life, study, and work habits.

He also considered that Zhangjiang's culture and creative industry now faces greater development opportunities and has a better business environment to help enterprises grow further.
