Zhangjiang gets international incubation innovation alliance

Authorities in Zhangjiang, Shanghai's Pudong New Area, announced the launch of an international incubation innovation alliance at an innovation development forum on Oct 18.

The alliance was a joint effort of Zhangjiang Group, multinationals, startup firms, and international incubators.

Its first batch of members covers 18 institutions including enterprise application software supplier SAP, Intel, ABB Group, Sino-Israel Technology Innovations, Plug and Play, WECAN Startup Accelerator, and more others.

The alliance will share innovative resources, seek partners, and co-incubate innovative achievements so as to promote the common development of its members and accelerate the innovative advancement of the Shanghai free trade zone (FTZ).  

Alongside the forum, the third Shanghai FTZ Overseas Talents Innovation Conference was also held, during which 56 hi-tech start-ups from 17 countries and regions competed.

Finally, four projects won the Most Investment Potential Award and four won the Most Popular Among Investors Award.

The event, organized by the Shanghai FTZ Offshore Entrepreneurial Base for Overseas Professionals, started in 2016 and focuses on leading technology and cutting-edge innovation from around the world.

The event serves as a bridge between startup projects and incubators and investment institutions. To date, it has attracted more than 1,500 startup projects from all over the world.  

Zhangjiang High Tech Park, part of the Shanghai FTZ, is a hotbed for sci-tech innovations. It, with the aim of developing into a science city, now houses a large number of large scientific facilities top incubators, tech startups, and leading research institutes.
